Taking inspiration from the song ‘Cool Britannia’ by original Walthamstow School of Art student Vivian Stanshall and his Bonzo Dog Doh Dah Band, artist duo Dash ‘N Dem alongside young people from the William Morris Gallery and Waltham Forest College have updated the performance for the 21st century employing the talents of the world famous virtual pop star Hatsune Miku. Join them at the Walthamstow Garden Party and have a go at creating your very own humanoid persona voiced by a singing synthesizer that will (through the power of projection mapping) perform live in front of your eyes. This workshop is child friendly, and part of the Walthamstow Garden Party.
Dash ‘N Dem are Demitrios Kargotis (b. 1982, London, England) and Dash Macdonald (b. 1983, Wendover, England), and have been working in collaboration since graduating from the Royal College of Art. Through public performance, creative social experiments and interventions, their practice explores and exposes the effect of existing socio-political systems and institutional mechanisms. Their work has been exhibited internationally in Dundee, Berlin, Athens, Helsinki, Bucharest, Istanbul, Tokyo, Linz, Zurich, Zagreb, Gijon and London.
